Caesarea

Caesarea is a roman city built by Herod in about 20 BC in honor of Caesar Agustus. It has Roman Aquaducts and ruins from the time to Herod and then the Crusades. It was conquered by the Byzantines and converted to Christianity. Later it was razed to the ground by Arabs. You can see Roman statues and later of the Shepard and crosses carved into the Corinthian columns from the byzantine time but they were all defaced by the arabs. There are ruins of a Christian church that was built on the ruins of a Roman Temple. In this century (actually the 20th century) it was built up for Bosnian refugees.
