IN ITALY

It was a grueling travel schedule. The GPS was retarded Special Needs and took us right through Manhattan to get to JFK a one hour drive took two and a half. The plane took off at 9 pm. The flight was only 6 and a half hours and landed in Zurich 9 am local time. So we only got a few hours sleep on the plane. We had a three and a half hour lay over in Zurich. Tom made his best impression of a homeless guy sleeping on a bench. I should have put a cup out and collected some dough. When we were about to board for Florence they informed us due to bad weather the flight was delayed 45 minutes and we were being diverted to Bologna where we take a 1 1/2 hour bus trip to Florence. So we grumbled and boarded. Then we spent 25 minutes just waiting on the tarmac. Tom and I were totally zonked out the whole time. I kept waking up wondering if we were in the air. Well it finally took off and our luck changed the fog lifted and we landed in Florence after all. We made it to the Hotel about 5:00 local time. It is a nice hotel and they had a yummy dessert waiting in the room for me with a Birthday card. So tomorrow it is off sight seeing in the pouring rain!
